ZNCC Strategic Engagement with South Korea Embassy in Zimbabwe
ZNCC, represented by Mr Tapiwa D. Karoro (the President) and Mr. Jephias Makiwa (Principal Economist) held an engagement with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Zimbabwe on 26 January 2026 to review progress on economic cooperation and agree on concrete implementation steps. The meeting focused on operationalising the ZNCC–Korea Chamber MoU, strengthening private sector linkages, and shifting cooperation from policy intent to commercially driven outcomes. Both sides reaffirmed commitment to deepening trade, investment, and business-to-business engagement.
Discussions also covered preparations for future platforms to advance cooperation. These included potential Korean private sector participation at ZITF 2026 and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, as well as a proposed ZNCC trade and investment mission to South Korea in the last quarter of 2026. The Korean Embassy undertook to share a calendar of major economic and trade events in Korea to support targeted Zimbabwean participation and alignment with the proposed mission.
The parties further agreed to establish a joint working group comprising the Embassy, ZNCC, KOTRA, and the CEO Roundtable to coordinate implementation, event participation, and mission planning. The Embassy reaffirmed Korea’s support to Zimbabwe beyond aid, including investment, skills development, and education through undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships.
