The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) holds its Business Review Conference once in each calendar year in December, where a number of key topical issues are deliberated on and this year’s conference is slated for 07 December 2017.
It is during this conference where business and policy makers engage on broad aspects and policy issues and endeavour to lay down a sustainable path towards growth and profitability.
The chamber has held a number of conferences since January which focused on addressing economic challenges affecting the nation as a whole and the 2017 Business Review Conference seeks to evaluate how the country has progressed in terms of economic growth. The conference will be held under the 2017 theme “Consolidating the New Normal Economy through Policy reforms” and comes at a time when government has put some measures to induce appetite to export as well as measures to address the Ease of Doing Business through the Rapid results initiative. The conference seeks to identify areas of improvement as we approach 2018 and to embrace the new normal economy in policy formulation and to gauge business performance. It will also provide a platform to formally register business concerns towards policy makers on policy issues that are impacting negatively on businesses in-order to come up with solutions.
The Business Review Conference continues to be a unique platform where all business movement organisations will be represented in deliberating issues impacting negatively on the growth potential of the economy. This year’s conference will include the launch of the ZNCC flagship survey on “Understanding the dynamics and characteristics of the informal sector in Zimbabwe.”
With one of the objectives of the forum being to identify progress in policy implementation and deliberate on what could have been the stumbling blocks in order to come up with a White Policy Paper position, the event will be structured in a way to allow all key topical issues to be addressed and well researched data will also be presented on the following topics:
• “2017 economic performance: Realities and Prospects”
• “Building pillars of competitiveness: Progress”
• “Ease of doing business, Rapid results approach: Progress”
• “Zimbabwe 2018 Economic policy outlook”
• “Market shortages, black market and finding a lasting solution”
Delegates will have an opportunity to participate and influence debates on areas which need imperative attention, in the new normal economy, through panel discussions and plenary sessions.
Sessions will be led by an eminent line-up of speakers and panelists. Some of the invited speakers and panellists include Hon. Dr Mike Bimha - Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. Dr Ignatius Chombo - Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr Caleb Fundanga - Executive Director MEFMI, Rosemary M Kariuki – World Bank Country Manager, among others.
Registration and bookings are on-going at ZNCC offices. Interested business people, professionals, diplomats, academia and individuals are being invited to participate at the event.
Partnership opportunities are still available for the Business Review Conference and members of the business community are being invited to partner with the Chamber to make this event a success.
